Many find that the AIP is more about expanding into foods they normally wouldn’t have eaten on an otherwise conventional diet. Plus, I touch on nurturing this mindset more in depth inside one of your class modules – empowering you to move past a “lack” state of mind for your ultimate AIP success!

Not necessarily. The only special equipment that I recommend having are the two that most people have in their kitchen already: a blender and a grater. A food processor does come in handy for a handful of the recipes, but you don’t have to invest in one of those if you don’t want to – a blender and a grater will do just fine.

While lab testing can help you further your success and give you better insights into what is going on in your body, there are no lab tests required for this program. The same goes with supplements. I do give you suggestions on which are the best ones to consider if you do choose to go those routes, though!

A slight increase is possible, but so is an offset in costs. Since the AIP uses fresh ingredients and quality meats, you’ll likely spend more than usual in the butcher and the produce sections of the store. 

BUT…you’ll be saving money when you cut out all of those packaged, processed foods! Conventional convenience foods are quite costly – not just for your wallet, but also for your health. An offset happens when you are able to stop spending so much on your budgets for healthcare bills and dining out due to improved health and lifestyle choices.

Not at all! There are plenty of regular shops to get your ingredients from. ALDI, Walmart, Target, Kroger, and Sprouts are places you can find most ingredients. Though if you choose to head to your farmer’s market or organic health food store instead, that works perfectly fine too!

Here is a summary of what I’ve noticed over the past 30 days:

✔️ Energy levels have improved SO.MUCH. I would say this was the biggest win for me for sure. And the program is structured so that you don’t spend every evening cooking, so I had more time in the evenings to actually do things I like (biking, yoga, gardening, etc.), and I had the energy to enjoy them!

✔️ Improved blood glucose levels (I referred to this a few weeks ago back in week 2; that trend definitely continued). My average glucose level for the past 30 days was 7.5, whereas 60 days (before the reset) it was 8.5

✔️ Improved sleep. I used to wake up 2-3 times/night; the past 30 days I’ve had several nights where I slept all the way through, with no interruptions. I can’t remember the last time I’ve slept that well.

✔️ Hair growth, as seen in pictures!

✔️ Decreased joint pain. I have rheumatoid arthritis so joint pain is definitely still a struggle, but I had some really good days where pain was minimal. I noticed this shift the most by about the middle of week 3.

I’m going to continue doing AIP for the next 30 days at least to see if my joint pain continues to improve. So far I’m just really enjoying the results so I am going to stick with it a little longer before I start with re-introductions.

When I first did the AIP 6 years ago, I was very familiar with dieting. In fact I am pretty sure I have tried almost every diet program out there (Atkins, Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, The Biggest Loser, NutriSystem). You name it I have tried it.

So the idea of a diet with yes and no food lists didn’t seem that daunting to me...let’s just say I had no idea what I was in for because the AIP is so much more than just yes and no food lists.

I really struggled when I started because no one I knew had ever even heard of the AIP (hello isolation) and the amount of time I spent on making grocery lists and meal planning and prepping was excessive and exhausting. I was flaring so bad before I started that I would spend my day teaching and planning and then fall asleep on the couch by 7 PM.

So you can imagine how I felt when I started adding in hitting up Pinterest for AIP recipes and then double checking the list of ingredients in the recipe and on all of the food items to ensure they were AIP compliant and then of course trying to locate the ingredients in my small rural town.

Needless to say I had no energy left to focus on any lifestyle pieces such as, mindset, sleep, movement, stress management and proper digestion. I also felt a lot of stress to be “AIP Perfect” in the early days. Suggestions like limiting fruit and eating organ meat all the time and consuming organic produce or eating 8-12 servings of vegetables started to really weigh on me. I knew I couldn’t continue on this way so I had to find a way to make AIP my own, to make it “Meagen Friendly.” In simple terms I needed to make it realistic, simplistic and attainable.

After my success with my own version of the AIP I started creating AIP recipes that made people feel good while studying to become a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
