Not necessarily. The only special equipment that I recommend having are the two that most people have in their kitchen already: a blender and a grater. A food processor does come in handy for a handful of the recipes, but you don’t have to invest in one of those if you don’t want to – a blender and a grater will do just fine.
While lab testing can help you further your success and give you better insights into what is going on in your body, there are no lab tests required for this program. The same goes with supplements. I do give you suggestions on which are the best ones to consider if you do choose to go those routes, though!
A slight increase is possible, but so is an offset in costs. Since the AIP uses fresh ingredients and quality meats, you’ll likely spend more than usual in the butcher and the produce sections of the store.
BUT…you’ll be saving money when you cut out all of those packaged, processed foods! Conventional convenience foods are quite costly – not just for your wallet, but also for your health. An offset happens when you are able to stop spending so much on your budgets for healthcare bills and dining out due to improved health and lifestyle choices.
Not at all! There are plenty of regular shops to get your ingredients from. ALDI, Walmart, Target, Kroger, and Sprouts are places you can find most ingredients. Though if you choose to head to your farmer’s market or organic health food store instead, that works perfectly fine too!

Here is a summary of what I’ve noticed over the past 30 days:
✔️ Energy levels have improved SO.MUCH. I would say this was the biggest win for me for sure. And the program is structured so that you don’t spend every evening cooking, so I had more time in the evenings to actually do things I like (biking, yoga, gardening, etc.), and I had the energy to enjoy them!
✔️ Improved blood glucose levels (I referred to this a few weeks ago back in week 2; that trend definitely continued). My average glucose level for the past 30 days was 7.5, whereas 60 days (before the reset) it was 8.5
✔️ Improved sleep. I used to wake up 2-3 times/night; the past 30 days I’ve had several nights where I slept all the way through, with no interruptions. I can’t remember the last time I’ve slept that well.
✔️ Hair growth, as seen in pictures!
✔️ Decreased joint pain. I have rheumatoid arthritis so joint pain is definitely still a struggle, but I had some really good days where pain was minimal. I noticed this shift the most by about the middle of week 3.
I’m going to continue doing AIP for the next 30 days at least to see if my joint pain continues to improve. So far I’m just really enjoying the results so I am going to stick with it a little longer before I start with re-introductions.
